St. Vincent School of Quezon City, Inc. (SVSQC) was founded as Saint Vincent Children's Center in April 1979. Inspired by the idea of being able to give young children a head start in socialization and the 3Rs within a secure location, Virginia Velasco, an education graduate, together with her spouse, Victor Velasco, opened its doors to its first 60 pupils at a rented four-room bungalow inside Philam Life Homes, Quezon City.
Organized as a traditional and non-sectarian educational institution, the Center got its name by way of thanksgiving of the founders. Saint Vincent Ferrer of Valencia, Spain was popularly known as the patron saint for builders. However, his teachings of decorum and prayer amidst studying in his Treatise on The Spiritual Life have become a foundation of the Vincentian instruction.
Apart from its main school on West Avenue, Quezon City, its operations have extended to a Branch in Teacher's Village, also in Quezon City and has a sister school in Sasmuan, Pampanga. All its schools are registered as non-stock, non-profit corporation, and are recognized by the Department of Education.
SVS prides itself as having been able to successfully transform into a fully Online School in 2020 as it strived to provide educational services during the COVID-19 pandemic. In alignment with its philosophy, mission, and core values, SVS shall retain the blended learning approach to its service delivery.
St. Vincent School of Quezon City envisions a supportive community where learning and discovery can be done in a safe environment so there may be a generation of honorable, prayerful, and progressive Filipinos.
St. Vincent School is an educational institution composed of dedicated individuals. We offer a holistic and relevant curriculum consistent with the spiritual teaching of Saint Vincent Ferrer and our national interest. In our commitment to contribute to a better generation, we are keen on developing the youth and provide them with opportunities to a healthy, well-balanced and dignified life.
The bedrock of St. Vincent School's curriculum comes from its essentialist educational philosophy. Its founders supported the belief that children should grasp the "three R's" at a young age and that consistency and discipline facilitate mastery. In educating 21st century learners, we include computer as the fourth "R". At SVS, each child's learning journey is premised on a safe space and is always delivered within the backdrop of love for God, country, and the environment.
In its first handbook in 1983, St. Vincent School professed peace and knowledge as its core values. Over the years however, SVS has come to realize that more proactive values are necessary to contribute to a better generation. Resulting from the Vision and Mission that was proposed and adopted in SY 2020-2021, St. Vincent School adopts "I ASCEND" as its core values. As two words, it implies getting past and bringing ones' self to progress. The word 'ascend' is based on the life of Saint Vincent Ferrer whose life was devoted to 'building up' the church of his faith. As an acronym, iASCEND stands for Integrity, Athleticism, Spirituality, Creativity, Eco-friendly, Nationalism, and Determination. We believe that in a fast changing world or when confronted with difficult situations, these are the values our youth must acquire if they are to rise above and achieve progress for themselves and for society.
